Thypoch has announced its new Ksana 35mm f/2 ASPH Lens for M-Mount. According to the company, it features 1980s-inspired optics, solid brass craftsmanship, and a fast f/2 aperture.

The Ksana 35mm f/2 ASPH is said to blend vintage character with contemporary precision. Inspired by the black lacquer finish of classic M-mount glass, the lens could be used for landscape, street, portrait, travel, and documentary applications.

Some coatings from the 1980s produced a characteristic gold-purple flare and a warmth in color rendering. Epoch Coating 84′ is claimed to bring that same look to the Ksana 35mm.

The black paint edition pays homage to classic lens designs, featuring a semi-gloss, oil-based finish. Alternatively available in silver. Both versions are equipped with a crescent-shaped focus tab, and a tactile resistance at 0.7m gently reminds users of the rangefinder’s focusing limit.

The optical design of the lens consists of 8 elements in 5 groups, including 1 ASPH (aspherical) element, 1 ED (extra-low dispersion) element, and 2 HRI (high refractive index) elements. This design is claimed to provide crisp resolution, well-controlled aberrations, and smooth bokeh.

Price & Availability

The Thypoch Ksana 35mm f/2 ASPH is now available for $599 USD. The lens comes in two versions, with and without a lens hood, each available in black and silver. The lens hood version is $649 USD.
