Leica has announced the LUX 2.0 camera app for the iPhone. It is scheduled to be released on the Apple App Store in early October. In addition to the free version, Leica LUX PRO will be available for a monthly or yearly subscription. The annual subscription includes a 7-day free trial.
Leica LUX 2.0 adopts the same gallery screen as the Leica FOTOS app. The Leica FOTOS app connects compatible Leica cameras with smartphones and tablets to facilitate image transfer and management. It also features a new app icon inspired by Leica cameras and a user interface that incorporates elements of Apple’s Liquid Glass design.
The app features effects that replicate Leica lenses and a variety of Leica Looks. Additionally, users can manually control focus, exposure, ISO, and white balance.
The new filmstrip allows users to select individual photos directly from the detail view. There is also a grid view that supports multiple selections. In addition to Darkroom, users can now launch Adobe Lightroom and Capture One directly as external editing apps.
In addition to the new design, several app icons inspired by Leica cameras are available. Users can customize the home screen to their liking. Leica LUX is compatible with the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
Version 2.0 has also been optimized to take full advantage of the camera capabilities of the new generation of iPhones. According to Leica, the app will be continuously updated, with new features scheduled to be added approximately every two months.
Leica LUX Grip Silver
In addition to the updated app, Leica has announced the LUX Grip Silver. It retains the basic functions of the black model. The two-stage mechanical shutter button focuses when pressed lightly and releases the shutter when pressed fully. The settings dial and two freely assignable function buttons provide direct access to key camera settings.
The Leica LUX Grip attaches to an iPhone via MagSafe. It communicates with the smartphone via Bluetooth, integrating physical controls into the shooting workflow. A full charge via USB-C provides power for up to 1,000 shots. The Leica LUX Grip is compatible with iPhone 12 and later models. Additionally, the product includes a one-year subscription to Leica LUX PRO.
Leica LUX Case
The new Leica LUX Case, designed exclusively for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, was designed to be used in conjunction with the Leica LUX Grip.
The exterior features black leather, while the interior is lined with red microfiber. Instead of the traditional cutout for the camera button, it features an integrated camera button. The Leica LUX Case can be connected to the Leica LUX Grip and other compatible accessories via MagSafe.
The new Leica LUX Grip Silver is scheduled to go on sale on Saturday, October 10, 2026, while the Leica LUX Case for iPhone 18 Pro / Pro Max is scheduled to be released sometime in October.
