Almost 5 years after it was first announced, the Sony FX6 will cost you almost $1,000 USD more than it did back in 2020. At launch, it was $5,999.99 USD, and the current price is $6,998 USD.

The Sony FX6 has, and continues to be, one of the most popular digital cinema cameras on the market. Its success is probably why Sony hasn’t released a successor. The camera hit a sweet spot when it came to size, price, and feature set, and that is why so many shooters bought one.

While a lot of the camera’s competition have seen price drops over the years, the price of the Sony FX6 in the US has actually gone up (mainly due to tariffs). It is now more expensive than the RED KOMODO-X, Canon C70 & C80, and only around $1,500 less than the Canon EOS C400.

To their credit, Sony has released quite a few firmware updates over the years that have enhanced the functionality of the camera and added new features. If you own a Sony FX6, then I think you would be pretty happy, given that the camera is still widely accepted and used throughout the industry.
