GoPro has released firmware updates for MISSION 1 Pro and MISSION 1 Pro ILS cameras. New features include anamorphic lens support, photo shutter response improvements, and the ability continuously take 100 photos at 12MP or more than 20 RAW photos at 50MP. The MISSION Monitor App also gets an update with new exposure tools and the ability to wirelessly connect instead of having to rely on a USB-C cable.

I previously reviewed the MISSION 1 Pro ILS on the site and you can see that review here.
Anamorphic Support
If you want to use anamorphic lenses on the MISSION 1 Pro ILS, you can now choose squeeze ratios of 1.33x, 1.5x, 1.6x, 1.8x, and 2.0x, as well as utilize presets to be able to quickly switching between anamorphic and spherical lenses. Unfortunately, and this is rather odd, there is still no on-camera desqueeze preview for the rear screen. GoPro states that this will be coming soon.
This new anamorphic lens support includes compatibility with GoPro’s HyperSmooth video stabilization. GoPro Labs firmware also writes pixel aspect ratio metadata to the video file so desktop playback and editing tools like Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve recognize the correct squeeze ratio of the image and correct it automatically.
High-Performance Shutter Response & Continuous Photo Capture
According to GoPro, both MISSION 1 Series cameras have received a ground-up rebuild of how they capture photos.
With the free firmware update, all MISSION 1 Series cameras will now feature zero-lag, ultra-responsive shutter button response that results in photos being captured the instant the shutter button is pressed. A continuous shutter function allows users to hold the shutter button to capture photos continuously. You can capture more than 100 photos at 12MP or more than 20 RAW photos at 50MP.1
Additionally, a new on-screen indicator signals when the camera is approaching its buffer limit. GoPro has also added a more modernized shutter sound.
MISSION Monitor adds new Exposure Tools & Wireless Connectivity

MISSION Monitor, the free iPhone and iPad live-preview app for MISSION 1 Series cameras has also been updated with four new professional monitoring tools, plus wireless connectivity and support for the new photography features.
Here is what has been added:
- Histogram
- Waveform
- RGB Parade
- False Color

The big news, is that finally you can connect your MISSION 1 Pro or MISSION 1 PRO ILS camera wirelessly for cable-free live preview and image monitoring. This will be a good option for a lot of shooters instead of having a cable sticking out the side of your iPhone!
GoPro Labs
GoPro Labs also added anamorphic lens support to MISSION 1 PRO ILS with the latest GoPro Labs firmware update.
Availability
These new features are now available as a free firmware update via the GoPro Quik app or on GoPro.com. The MISSION Monitor app update is free and available today on the Apple App Store for devices running iOS 18 or later. The updated GoPro Labs firmware supporting anamorphic lenses is available to download for free from GoPro Labs.
