Sigma has announced its new 50-120mm F2.8 DC OS Contemporary, which is available in Sony E-Mount, Fujifilm X Mount, and Canon RF Mount.
It is being touted as a lightweight high performing APS-C lens with a useful focal range.
Key features
- APS-C | f/2.8 to f/22
- 75-180mm (Full-Frame Equivalent)
- Fast and Versatile Telephoto Zoom
- HLA-Driven High-Speed AF Motor
- Optical Stabilization & OS2 Algorithm
- One FLD, Three SLD & Four ASPH Elements
- Dust- and Splash-Resistant Design
- Measures Only 3.9″ Long

The lens features a compact body that is just just 9.9cm / 3.9″ long and it weighs just 390g / 0.86 lb.
The 50-120mm F2.8 DC OS Contemporary joins the 10-18mm F2.8 DC DN Contemporary and 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN Contemporary to provide a three lens solution, that when combined, weighs less than 1kg / 2.2 lb.
The lens features an optical construction that combines one FLD glass element, three SLD glass elements and four aspherical elements in exactly the right arrangement that is claimed to achieve both high optical performance and a compact size. According to Sigma, throughout the zoom range, from the center of the frame to the edges, various optical aberrations are corrected to achieve exceptionally high contrast. The optical is also claimed to have been designed to minimize focus breathing.
The 50-120mm F2.8 DC OS Contemporary has high-speed AF driven by an HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) linear motor, and an OS2 image stabilization algorithm that is claimed to deliver 6.5 stops of optical stabilization at the wide end and 4.5 stops at the telephoto end.
The lens has a focus mode switch and the OS switch have been removed, giving the lens an easy-to-understand interface. It also has a dust- and splash-resistant structure and water- and oil-repellent coating.
