Avid

Avid has announced the latest version of Media Composer, Media Composer 2026.8. It introduces new agentic editing capabilities, including Ready to Edit.

According to Avid, Ready to Edit was designed to accelerate content preparation without compromising the creative process. Deeper integration between Media Composer and Avid Content Core will enable editors to access, search, and use assets from the wider media estate without leaving the editing environment, alongside embedded AI capabilities through the new Google Gemini panel.

Media Composer 2026.8 also increases collaboration options through Shared Projects, enabling editors and post-production teams to work more flexibly across multiple locations and storage environments.

Media Composer 2026.8 also adds practical enhancements to help editors. New capabilities include:

  • PhraseFindAI Multicam Auto Cut – Drives multicam selection based on speaker and places cuts on speech boundaries, speeding editorial while preserving creative control and editability.
  • Transcript Tools – Enhance workflows to include revert transcript edits, split segments, and continuous playback in viewer, improving review, story refinement, and transcript control.
  • OpenTimelineIO 2.0 Adapter Update – Improves test coverage and round-trip fidelity with third-party tools, boosting interoperability and reducing friction when exchanging timelines across applications.
  • What’s New Window – Highlights new capabilities and links users directly to documentation and learning resources, helping teams discover and adopt new features faster.

Other enhancements include Choose Bin Column Search, Swap Audio Track from Subclip, and Titler+ Keyframe Rectification to improve search precision, audio flexibility, and timeline reliability, along with expanded APIs for automation and integration.

An expanded Media Composer First experience provides a no-cost entry point for anyone who wants to try out the NLE.
