World’s First PTZR Design
The Tail 2’s headline mechanical feature is its PTZR form factor — Pan, Tilt, Zoom, and Roll. An engineered gimbal structure rotates the lens assembly 90°, enabling lossless vertical 4K capture without software cropping or resolution loss. For productions that need both a widescreen broadcast feed and a portrait-format social media cut from the same camera, this removes the need for a dedicated vertical rig. An integrated Auto Leveling System maintains horizon stability automatically, rated at ±0.003° angular vibration — precise enough for virtual production FreeD workflows.
Imaging System
A 1/1.5″ CMOS sensor captures 50 megapixels (8192 × 6144). The 12-element optical system covers a 22–110mm equivalent focal range — 89° to 21° diagonal FOV — with a maximum aperture of f/1.8 at wide and f/3.0 at telephoto. The camera delivers 5x optical zoom, extending to 12x hybrid zoom. Video output tops out at 4K60 over HDMI, SDI, NDI/IP, and USB-C simultaneously. At 1080p, it reaches 120fps. HDR is available at 4K30 and 1080p30.
All-pixel PDAF handles autofocus across most lighting conditions. Dual native ISO runs 100–6400. A 2μm pixel size and AI noise reduction extend low-light capability to challenging environments, such as dimly lit sanctuaries or studio sets with uneven lighting.
AI Tracking 2.0
OBSBOT’s updated tracking engine introduces “Only Me” mode, which locks to a single selected subject and ignores other potential targets in frame — a practical solution for following a specific speaker on a crowded stage without the camera jumping to crew members or audience. Group Tracking handles the opposite scenario, identifying and framing multiple subjects simultaneously.
Beyond humans, the Tail 2 recognizes 30+ animal types and 200+ objects via a double-click interface in the Obsbot Start app. Gesture control operates at extended range, enabling solo operators to trigger tracking, adjust zoom, and start or stop recording without touching the camera. Auto Zoom scales dynamically between 5x Optical Zoom and 12x Hybrid Zoom to maintain appropriate subject framing.
I/O and Connectivity
