Panasonic has released a new LUMIX S 40mm F2. This is being touted as a compact, lightweight prime designed for everyday use.

The lens shares the same compact size and 62mm filter thread as the LUMIX S 18-40mm f/4.5-6.3, and it measures approximately 1.6″ in length and 5.1 oz / 144 g in weight.

The optical design consists of 7 elements in 6 groups, and it has 7 aperture blades. The front filter diameter is 62mm.

It features a control ring and focus button, and the front lens element is coated with fluorine, making it easy to remove dirt and oil from the surface
