Came-TV has announced its new V-Mount Battery Clamp Large Open Angle and Solid Structure Adapter. While the name is a mouthful, this is a useful device that can come in very handy when working with lights or when you need to power larger external monitors, etc.
Several years ago, CAME-TV was, at least to my knowledge, the first company to produce a V-mount clamp in the industry. They have now upgraded it to a more solid structure with a large open angle.
V-mount clamps can come in very handy as they allow you to attach V-mount batteries or certain power supplies to a lightstand. If you are running a light that can be powered via a V-mount battery but it doesn’t come with a built-in plate, then they are a good solution. They can also be used to good effect if you need to power a larger monitor that doesn’t come with a battery plate. You can simply put a V-mount battery that has a D-tap output onto the clamp and then run a cable to the monitor.
The Came-TV V-Mount Battery Clamp tips the scales at 350g / 0.77 lb and it also features a variety of 1/4-20″ and 3/8″ mounting holes for attaching accessories.
What is nice is that Came-TV has designed the clamp to have a very wide opening, so you can attach it to large lightstands without any issues.
While these products are useful, there isn’t as much need for one as there used to be. A lot of lights now come with clamps similar to this that you can use to attach power supply/controllers too. Even some of the more affordable LED lights either come with or at least give you the option to buy, a power plate that attaches to a lightstand. In saying that, I always like to have items like this in my kit, because they are versatile enough to be used for a variety of different applications.
