Canon has announced the RF 100-400mm f/5.6-8 IS USM. This is being touted as an ‘affordable entry-level’ telephoto zoom lens.

This may seem like an odd release given Canon already makes a Canon RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1L IS USM Lens. Despite both lenses having similar focal lengths and variable apertures, the RF 100-400mm f/5.6-8 IS USM is a more affordable lens that is being targeted at a different user. It doesn’t feature the L designation and it has been designed to complement the RF 600 f/11 IS STM and RF 800mm f/11 IS STM lenses.
