The new Deity Supercardioid V-Mic D4 Mini is an affordable, high-quality miniature shotgun microphone that captures directional audio and rejects sounds from off-camera. The D4 Mini has a new offset shock mount that works with wide-angle lenses that are popular for vlogging or action cameras. This also keeps your camera setup small with much better audio quality than using the camera’s internal microphone plus the D4 Mini gets power from the 3.5mm input so no batteries are required. slip it on. The side-mounted output jack keeps the cable out of the way and works well for hybrid DSLR shooters who want to use their eyepiece for taking photos. Some top-mounted microphones will press up against your forehead when shooting.
The input jack allows you to split your audio tracks and easily insert a secondary audio source, like a wireless microphone, without a splitter cable. I like this feature, especially when using a single 3.5mm input like on hybrid cameras. You will have to use the wireless device to set the output level as most if not all single input 3.5mm audio controls only have one record level option for both channels.
Mounting Options
Deity gives the V-Mic D4 Mini three mounting options. The main mount is a cold shoe and on the bottom is an included 3/8 16 and 1/4″ 20 options. The lockdown on the cold shoe has grooves so you can push the cable into one to keep the cable out of your way.

Included Wind Sheild
Included with the V-Mic D4 Mini is a faux fur windshield that provides wind protection up to 20mph. Wind noise is a big issue, and it’s nice to have an included cover.
Medium Diaphragm
Some micro shotgun microphones use a small 6mm diaphragm. The V-Mic D4 Mini features a 4th generation 14mm medium diaphragm capsule. This is the same capsule found in the rest of the D4 series of video microphones.
