After careful consideration, Convergent Design has decided to discontinue the manufacture of its Odyssey 7Q+ and Apollo video recorders (Part numbers include: (CD-Odyssey7Q+, 100-10003-100 and CD-Apollo, 100-100025-100). The standard warranty terms will be honored for all units shipped to date and any units still in the dealer channels waiting to be sold.

If you own an Odyssey 7Q+ or an Apollo don’t worry, your products will still be supported. All software options and software rentals will continue to be sold, such as the Odyssey Raw Bundle and the Apollo Option. Convergent Design isn’t closing down as far as I am aware.

SSD sales of 512GB Samsung 860 Pro and 1TB Samsung Pro will continue to be sold.

The Odyssey 7Q+ was announced way back in 2014. I still own and use an Odyssey 7Q+, as do many others. It is still a very capable and feature-rich monitor/recorder, and it still does things some of the competition can’t, despite its age. I just wish Convergent Design would update it with a better screen. The fact that you can still use the Odyssey 7Q+ almost 6 years after it was first announced is a testament to how well made it is.

The discontinuance of the product line is in keeping with Convergent Design’s practice of rationalizing low demand products and replacing them with new products with improved design and functionality. Whether that means we will see a new recorder/monitor coming from Convergent Design is still unclear.

“We appreciate and value your partnership. While we regret any inconvenience, this announcement may cause we believe it is in the best interest for everyone.”
