My RØDE Reel Short Film Competition Returns

My RØDE Reel has returned for its sixth year, with over $1-million in prizes provided by a stack of companies including RØDE, SoundField, Blackmagic Design, Zhiyun, FuzzMeasure, Movcam, MZed, MusicBed, BlastwaveFX, Rhino, Rayzr, Vibesta, Wipster, Freefly, Red Giant, FilmConvert, Cam Caddie, Yololiv, Lume Cube, GoPro, Manfrotto, Sigma, Pelican, iOgrapher, Adobe, Michael Wiese Productions, APHEX, Angelbird, Joby and Lowepro.

The Judges

My RØDE Reel Judges – Ryan Connolly, Grace Randolph & Dan Mace

This year sees Ryan Connolly of Film Riot, return to the judging panel, along with Grace Randolph, host & creator of Beyond the Trailer as well as Dan Mace, winner of the My RØDE Reel Judges’ Film Prize way back in 2015.

As a nice bonus you can get the full Directing Color course from MZed (usually $79) just for downloading the competition starter pack. Over 90 minutes professional colourist Ollie Kenchington explores how visual language cues, color theory and even color grading techniques can be used throughout the filmmaking process to not just create a “look” but to enhance storytelling.
