Panasonic Varicam LT Firmware Update 6.0 adds live & multi-cam features

P8200038

Panasonic is set to release a free firmware upgrade for the Varicam LT 4k camera bringing it to Version 6. Set to be released on the 19th of February, the upgrade brings with it a whole host of features centering around live and near-live multi-camera applications such as episodic TV, concerts, corporate events & studio installations.

What’s New in Version 6.0

The firmware upgrade is summarised as “Ready for Live” and adds the following features:

  • Shading mode
  • Full control from AK-HRP1000/1005
  • Return video
  • TALLY

Live Broadcast – Shading Mode

In live broadcast situations, it’s common to have different types of cameras. A new shading mode will help match the Varicam LT look via paint settings to ensure consistency across the broadcast. The 6.0 upgrade will allow users to choose between grading with LUTs & CDLs or the shading mode.

An extended RCP control has been added for even more versatility allowing full control via the AK-HRP1000/AK-HRP1005 remotes and connected PC running live grading software such as Pomfort, Colorfront, FireFly & Codex.

The Varicam LT can also record V-log internally while outputting two different HD video signals, one for broadcast and one for monitoring.

Tally & return video features add even more versatility to the VariCam LT providing feedback for operators via tally lights & comms.

The Varicam LT Advantage

Traditionally, live and multi-cam events use ENG style 2/3″ sensor cameras. Using the Varicam LT will provide a different look with its Super 35mm sensor and provide a number of advantages over using traditional broadcast cameras. Panasonic is currently offering an instant saving of $2000 on the VariCam LT body & special pricing on packages until March 28 (US only). This free firmware upgrade adds even more value to an already versatile and powerful cinema camera.

The free firmware upgrade will be available for download from the Panasonic Varicam website.
