Cooke Optics has announced that it is introducing multiple mounts for its miniS4/i lenses. Until now these lenses have been strictly PL cinema mount only. The move opens up an entirely new market for Cooke, and it will allow more cameras and productions to create the much sought after ‘Cooke Look’. The new mounts will be available in Canon EF, Nikon F, Sony E and micro 4/3.

One of the nice things about the new mount is a single mount will fit every focal length lens in the miniS4/i series. For existing miniS4/i owners, users can simply unbolt the PL mount that comes as standard, and bolt on the replacement mount, them shim as required to ensure correct focus. Cooke now joins Zeiss in offering cinema prime lenses with user swappable mounts that can be changed in the field. Zeiss have had a lot of success with their popular CP2 series, and it is good to see Cooke offering their customers the same choice.

Les Zellan, Chairman and Owner, Cooke Optics, said, “The miniS4/i lenses are steadily gaining popularity for many genres of production, since they have all the coveted attributes of Cooke prime lenses in a smaller, lighter and more affordable form. With the introduction of these interchangeable mounts, we can now bring the Cooke Look to many more cameras and productions, giving even more choice to directors of photography.”

The mounts can be used on any miniS4/i lens, regardless of delivery date. For new miniS4/i deliveries, starting from October 2016, the lenses will be available with the mount of choice from the factory. You will be able to see the new mounts on display at IBC in Amsterdam in a weeks time.
