As a comparison, the previous DJI SDR Transmission system could only transmit up to 1080p 60fps, and it had a transmission range of 3km / 1.9 miles.
The system supports DCI 4K/60fps 10-bit HDR Wireless Transmission and RGB / YCbCr 4:4:4, 4:2:2. 4:2:0 color sampling. It also provides 8-bit / 10-bit color depth, and it utilizes the H.265 codec. HDR video transmission preserves highlights and shadow detail. For users, these ultra-high-quality specifications mean that what you see is what you get.
Nothing in its class comes close to matching the DJI SDR Transmission 2’s 4km / 2.48-mile range. This extended range is built on DJI’s long term expertize in sending low-latency video from their pioneering work with drones. DJI’s proprietary technology SDR (Software Defined Radio) transmission, uses a tri-band (DFS, 2.4 GHz, and 5.8 GHz) automatic frequency-hopping system. Dual Functionality
The DJI SDR Transmission 2 can function as either a Transmitter (TX) or a Receiver (RX). This gives users he flexability and versatility to easily switch between these modes via a switch, after which the system will automatically reboot to apply the change.

Auto Channel 2.0 – for Seamless, Stable Feed
Traditional wireless systems require manual channel planning for mult-TX/RX use. There is no need for manual channel selection with DJI SDR Transmission 2, ensuring more stable wireless transmission.
When switching the channel to AUTO, the transceiver automatically
performs seamless frequency hopping based on the on-site environment, ensuring stable transmission even in complex environments.
In multi-camera setups, transceivers can recognize each other and intelligently allocate channels, providing channel conflict diagnosis and alerts.
Enhanced frequency sweeping provides more accurate channel status indications.
Any unit can view information from other units, such as battery level and the number of connected devices.
There is a pairing-free connection for fast camera switching. This means no more rebooting, scanning, and re-pairing. Switch between camera feeds from the transceiver or the DJI Ronin app with a single tap, saving valuable time on set. Traditional systems take at least 30 seconds to reboot and switch feeds. With instant switching, one person with one RX can manage the entire set to check all camera feeds.
The system also supports custom Transmitter ID names, enabling receivers to search and filter by keywords, as well as support for a 4-digit verification code for encrypted connections to prevent unauthorized access.
Compact & Leightweight
The DJI SDR Transmission 2 TX and RX units are very compact and lightweight, which makes them easy to mount to professional cameras, monitors, and other equipment. The TX weighs just 136 g / 4.8 0z (including antennas), while the RX weighs 105 g / 3.7 oz. This small size and weight are beneficial when using the system with a smaller-sized camera that don’t have a lot of room for mounting accessories.
Easy Powering Solutions
The SDR Transmission 2 can be powered in multiple different ways, giving filmmakers the ability to adapt the system depending on their requirements
The easiest way to power both the TX and RX units is by using an NP-F battery on the removable battery plates. Being able to remove the battery plates allows filmmakers to decrease the footprint of the TX and RX units, which is very handy if you power them via USB-C.
The TX and RX units feature a USB-C Power Supply Type 1: 15 V/9 V, 3 A (PD protocol) and a USB-C Power Supply Type 2: 6.8-17.5 V DC. Additionally, you can also use the optional D-tap to USB-C power cable that comes in the Expansion Accessory Kit.
Ronin Monitoring & Control

The SDR Transmission 2 fits seamlessly into DJI’s ecosystem of products, and it natively supports DJI RS 5, RS 4, RS 4 Pro, RS 3 Pro, Ronin 2, and Master Wheels.
When the transceiver is connected to the Ronin 2 / RS stabilizer and Master Wheels, you can wirelessly control the stabilizer, with support for gimbal control and recentering. If the stabilizer is connected to a camera, you have the ability to remotely trigger start/stop via the Master Wheels.
All of this allows for efficient multi-person collaboration on set.
Compatible with the Osmo Action/Pocket
The DJI SDR Transmission 2 is also compatible with Osmo Action/Pocket, enabling users to transmit video from DJI’s smallest cameras. This further increases its versatility and allows the Action and Pocket Cameras to be easily integrated into modern productions.
DJI SDR Transmission 2 Expansion Accessory Kit
If you have a camera that has SDI outputs, you can still use the SDR Transmission 2 with the optional Expansion Accessory Kit.
The Expansion Accessory Kit features an SDI port and an HDMI port that support up to 1080p @60fps, as well as three USB-C ports. Additionally, you get a USB-C (UVC) port that also supports up to 1080p @60fps. Having a USB-C (UVC) port allows you to livestream directly to a computer without the need for any other hardware.
If you are using the SDR Transmission 2 as an RX unit, the Expansion Accessory Kit allows you to output two signals over HDMI and one over SDI at the same time.
The Expansion Plate mounts directly underneath the TX or RX.
The Transceiver Cage provides a robust and easy way of mounting and protecting your TX or RX unit.
