How to shoot 35mm film with Blazar anamorphic lenses

Blazar has posted up a video where you can learn how to shoot 35mm film with Blazar anamorphic lenses. In this guide, they break down the full EF-mount setup using Canon EOS SLR cameras, what to expect when exposing real film, and how to get the best results from Blazar glass.

They also share sample images featuring a model and classic cars to show exactly what this combo can deliver.

Blazar EF-mount anamorphic lenses, like the Mantis 1.33x, can be user-swapped from PL to EF mounts, allowing them to be used on Canon EF film cameras. It’s crucial to select lenses without rear protrusion for compatibility with EF SLR cameras. To do this, a compatibility checker is available on the Blazar website.

EF-mount film cameras are readily available and affordable, such as the EOS 650 and EOS 10 QD. The video shows you how to load Cine Still 800T film into an EOS 650.

Blazar also demonstrates how you can use your smartphone as an electronic viewfinder, as this helps in de-squeezing the image and judging framing, especially with high-squeeze-factor lenses.
