At IBC 2026 in Amsterdam, Kinefinity was showing production versions of its Active Top Handles that were first shown back at NAB. The Top Handles can be used with the VISTA Personal Cinema Camera or any other camera that has a NATO rail.
What was new for the show is that Kinefinity now has a Mini V-mount battery plate version of the Active Top Handle, as well as the Sony NP-F version that we first saw at NAB earlier in the year.
These cleverly designed top handles incorporate a Sony NP-F battery plate. or a Mini V-Mount, and two USB-C PD outputs that can be used for powering accessories. They also have a cold shoe mount and numerous mounting points. The built-in dual USB-C PD outputs deliver up to 36W per port.
With the VISTA Personal Cinema Camera, you can use the USB-C PD output to connect the handle to the 2-pin LEMO input via an adapter cable. This will let you hot-swap batteries as well as increase the run time of the camera. Once the battery on the top handle runs out, it will seamlessly switch to the NP-F battery in the camera.
The Top Handles can also be used to mount and power a Kinefinity Eagle EVF.
