SWISS RIG has announced the next generation of srRAW Cinema Camera 1.2 for iPhone is now available.
It is a RAW digital cinema camera app for iPhone and features a unique patent-pending capture engine. According to SWISS RIG, up until today, every iOS filmmaker app, without exception, has been using Apple’s video capture engine and destructive image processing pipeline. It’s the reason
why, with the same settings, a video shot from one app looks exactly the same as video shot from any other app. srRAW’s goal was to build something entirely new: a cinema camera on the inside, an iPhone on the outside.
srRAW is claimed to be easy to use, accessible, powerful, and it has a claimed dynamic range of 14 stops. It doesn’t use AI, algorithms, or noise reduction, and it has no baked-in image processing and no exposure manipulation.
srRAW’s custom capture engine natively encodes CinemaDNG files with zero image processing and it has native “plug and grade” integration with both the free and Studio versions of DaVinci Resolve.
CinemaDNG or DNG formats
srRAW 1.2 supports 16 different iPhone models (12 Pro/14 regular and newer); offers 9 resolutions (2K to 4K Scope – iPhone dependent); and introduces manual exposure controls for ISO and shutter speed.
It also introduces manual exposure controls for ISO and shutter speed. CinemaDNG “plug and grade” integration with DaVinci Resolve – ungraded state – Color Space Transform from camera to working color space.
srRAW also makes for a powerful and nimble B-cam, and it is claimed to cut seamlessly with footage from professional cinema cameras. The same workflow was recently used on Bloom Visuals’ feature film “The Score.” Shot in Las Vegas by cinematographer and colorist John-John Roque. sr RAW enabled shots and angles that weren’t possible with the production’s main cameras, a fully rigged RED Komodo and LUMIX S.
