NiSi has new ATHENA Drop-In Filter PL Mount Adapters available in the following configurations:
- PL-E for Sony E
- PL-RF for Canon RF
- PL-Z for Nikon Z
The ATHENA Drop-In Filter PL Mount Adapters come with a Clear drop-in filter, or you can buy them in a Filmmaker Kit, which also includes a True Color VND 1-5 Stop and a Black Mist 1/8.
VND and CPL drop-in filters can be manually adjusted, or you can use a wireless lens motor attached to the 0.8 MOD gear to adjust the filters remotely.
The Drop-In Filter PL Mount Adapters support any PL lenses with a rear protrusion of up to 28.5mm.
According to NiSi, the adapters account for the change in optical path that a drop-in filter introduces, so lenses maintain infinity focus with the filter installed.
There is a weatherproof sealing ring at the camera mount which helps limit the entry of dust and moisture at the connection between the adapter and the camera body. Without a filter, the PL-E weighs 195g / 6.9 oz, the PL-RF 207g / 7.3 oz, and the PL-Z 229g / 8.1 oz.
If you are using a cage with your camera (this especially applies to smaller-sized mirrorless hybrids), it is always a good idea to check the clearance around your mount before you build your rig.
You can use the adapters with all of the available ATHENA series drop-in filters: True Color VND, True Color CPL, Black Mist, Allure Streak, and FS ND.
