Sony Japan’s statement regarding the postponement of the release of the FX5

Sony Japan has issued a statement regarding the postponement of the release of the FX5 and its new accessories. Unfortunately, if you have ordered an FX5, you are unlikely to see it until late October at the earliest.

Here is what they said in their official statement:

To Our Valued Customers

Notice Regarding the Postponement of the Release of the “FX5” Professional Camcorder and Related Accessories

Thank you very much for your continued support of Sony products.

Regarding the “FX5” professional camcorder, for which the release date was announced as “Friday, August 21, 2026” during the press conference on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, we must postpone the release due to production-related circumstances. Additionally, the release of the related accessories “DVF-EL1,” “XLR-H2,” and “VMC-BNCU1” will also be postponed.

We will provide an update regarding the new release date as soon as it is finalized.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by this announcement so close to the scheduled release date.

The camera was announced on July 22nd, 2026, and the release date was supposed to be Friday, August 21st. That is now to be determined. And it won’t ship till late October or later*

*Revised on September 18, 2026: Due to the release postponement, the duration of the launch commemorative campaign will also be adjusted. We will provide further details as soon as they are finalized.
