Astera built its IBC 2026 booth around a single demonstration: take three spotlight fixtures, a couple of accent tubes, and one lighting console, and show how far that same small kit can stretch. Over the course of the demo, the booth transformed from a podcast studio into an interview setup, then into a full broadcast set — without changing a single fixture, only the cues. We spoke with Astera’s Sebastian about the build.
What it is

The three looks — podcast, interview, and a broadcast-style set Sebastian referred to as “Tokyo” — are all lit by the same rig: Astera’s Quik family of battery-powered spotlights (QuikBeam, QuikSpot, and QuikPunch) plus Titan Tube for fill, all recalled as different cue states from Blackout Lighting Console. Sebastian said the point was showing gaffers and lighting designers that flexibility doesn’t require swapping hardware between setups — just re-cueing the same fixtures.

Why RGBMA matters here
Sebastian’s demo leaned on the fact that all three Quik fixtures and the Titan Tube share the same color engine, so switching between the podcast, interview, and broadcast cues doesn’t introduce any color mismatch between fixtures — the top light, front light, and fill all come from the same RGBMA source even though they’re different form factors doing different jobs.
Control: Blackout Lighting Console
The entire demo runs off Blackout, a third-party lighting control console, rather than Astera’s own app. Sebastian pointed to this as the practical takeaway: a small broadcast studio can run multiple distinct looks off one console operator, recalling cues instead of re-rigging lights between segments — the kind of workflow a real multi-format studio (podcast one hour, interview segment the next) would actually need.
