At NAB 2026, we stopped by the DJI booth to take a look at the new RS 5. Here are the top three new features.
Key features

- Z-Axis Indicator
- One-Hour Full Charge with 65W PD Charger
- 2nd Gen Automated Axis Locks
- Separate AI Tracking and Framing Module
- Separate Electronic Control Handle
- OLED Touchscreen with Auto-Lock
- 3rd Gen Native Vertical Shooting
- Joystick or Bluetooth Mode Switching
- Teflon-Coated Axes, Enhanced Balancing
Faster Balancing

The new, faster balancing system is a winner. It is the most important first step in getting the best performance from a gimbal. The RS 5 has small adjustment knobs that allow for precise adjustment. It’s so much better than unlocking and sliding the mount by pushing left, right, front, or back.
Vertical Movement Meter

Walking with a gimbal can be tricky, as excessive up-and-down motion on the Z axis can ruin a great shot, especially for beginners. DJI added a visual aid with a meter that shows the movement. If you see red lines, you are moving too much. When green, you are good to go. I think this simple meter will help all operators, as when using a gimbal, you get physically tired, and vertical bounce can become more of an issue.
New Tracking Module

One of the powerful features on DJI gimbals is the tracking module. DJI has updated it with even better performance. Now you can track objects as well as people, and it locks in even better, making it easier to keep the subject in the center of the shot. You can get much smoother creative shots.
The DJI RS 5 retails for $569
The Combo Kit with AI Tracking Module & Briefcase Handle is $719
