The new Ambient QuickPole Counterweight is a direct result of feedback from the audio community. It attaches directly to the rear end of Ambient QuickPole booms. Users simply remove the rubber bumper and screw it onto the built-in thread.
While it may sound somewhat counterintuitive, adding weight to reduce effort, that’s exactly what a counterweight does. Thanks to lever physics, placing weight at the rear of the pole balances out the windshield + transmitter at the other end, significantly reducing the load on your arms and shoulders during long takes.
The counterweight is available in two versions to match your setup:
- For the QuickPole Series 5 – 476g
- For the QuickPole Slim – 453g
Each counterweight adds just under a pound of weight and features a threaded connection on both ends, so you can stack multiple weights to fit your setup.
An integrated 3/8″ thread on the counterweight opens up a second use case entirely that allows you to mount your boom pole on any standard stand and turn it into a slim, elegant plant mic setup.
Since the counterweight itself has a 35mm diameter, it is wider than the QuickPole Slim’s 30mm tube. This means the original rubber end cap of the QuickPole Slim will no longer fit once the counterweight is attached. Users can purchase a bundle (A81067) including the Counterweight for the QP Slim and the 35mm bumper or can purchase the 35 mm rubber bumper (A02820) separately.

If you’re using the counterweight with the QuickPole Slim and want to stack an additional counterweight on top, please note that the next counterweight needs to be the QuickPole Series 5 version, as the outer thread of the first counterweight matches the QP5 counterweights.
