amaran has announced its new flagship family of full-color COB lights, the Ray series. The series consists of the Ray 60c (60W), 120c (120W), 360c (360W), and 660c (660W).
According to amaran, the Ray series was designed for mobile and studio creators who need more power in smaller, smarter packages. The fixtures utilize an all-new OmniColor light engine.
Ray Series ShareD features
- IP54-Rated Weather Resistance: Every Ray fixture features an IP54-rated design for dust and splash resistance
- Instant NFC Pairing: With built-in NFC, creators can tap to add Ray fixtures in the amaran app
- Adaptive Control with FlowTurn Knob
- Dedicated Modifier Ecosystem: Mini reflectors, fresnels, and barn doors for the Ray 60c & 120c, full-size versions for the 360c & 660c, and a full-size Bowens Mount for compatibility across the complete amaran softbox family
OmniColor Light Engine
OmniColor is amaran’s all-new full-color light engine that was developed specifically to make high color fidelity more accessible. OmniColor expands the red and blue ranges and introduces an indigo emitter to deliver a fuller, more balanced spectrum of light, with claimed SSI scores of 87 (Tungsten) and 80 (D56).
OmniColor certainly seems to share a lot in common with Aputure’s BLAIR and BLAIR-CC light engines, which comes as no real big surprise.
amaran Ray 60c & 120c

The amaran Ray 60c (60W) and 120c (120W) are the first compact full-color COBs in the amaran lineup, and they were designed specifically for users who need small-sized fixtures that are easy to travel with.

The Ray 60C draws 75W, and the Ray 120c draws 140W.

The Ray 60c and 120c pack full-color performance into slim (4.4cm / 1.7″ & 5.1cm/ 2″ respectively) and lightweight (528g / 1.16 lb & 599g / 1.32lb respectively) designs.
Despite their small size, they both feature a full-size Bowens Mount for pairing with amaran softboxes and modifiers.
They are CCT adjustable from 2,300K to 10,000K (1,800K to 20,000K CCT with CCT+ Mode), and they have green-magenta adjustment. There are HSI and RGB color modes, a High-Speed Photography Mode, and Studio Mode, as well as the ability to utilize 12 different lighting FX.
The Ray 60c is claimed to deliver 50% more output in a body that is roughly half the size of the amaran COB 60x S, while the Ray 120c is claimed to have 22% more output than the amaran 150c with nearly an 85% reduction in size.
Both fixtures feature the amaran Ace E-Lock system with the all-new compact amaran Peak 75 and amaran Peak battery systems. This allows users to create a cable-free handheld or stand-mounted setup quickly.
An amaran Peak 75 battery is claimed to be able to power the Ray 60c at 100% output runs for 46 minutes, while the Ray 120c can run for 35 minutes using the same battery.
In addition to the included DC power adapter, the Ray 60c and 120c support USB-C PD input for flexible, travel-friendly power from a wide range of USB-C PD power banks and chargers.
There is an integrated 1/4-20″ screw mount for attaching the light.
Both these fixtures come standard as ready-to-shoot kits, complete with the all-new amaran Octa Dome 30 Softbox, Diffuser and Grid, Ace Lock
to Baby Pin Adapter Grip, Power Adapter, and Cable, all in a dedicated bag.
The Peak 75 will be available in January 2026.

amaran Ray 360c & 660c

The amaran Ray 360c (360W) and 660c (660W) are amaran’s most powerful full-color COBs to date, and this is the first time amaran has offered a 600W fixture.
The Ray 360c draws 410W, and the 660c draws 750W.

Both fixtures feature an all-in-one monolight design, so you don’t need to carry around or hook up an external power supply/controller.
The Ray 360c weighs 3.3kg / 7.28lbs, and the Ray 660c weighs 5.7kg / 12.57 lbs.

amaran claims that the Ray 660c is also the first full-color COB in its power class to feature an all-in-one design. I am not sure about this claim, as there are other full-color COB fixtures with an all-in-one design on the market.
The Ray 360c is claimed to have over 80% more output than the amaran 300c, while the Ray 660c is the brightest amaran COB to date.

Both lights feature DMX control via an optional USB-C to 5-Pin DMX In & Out Adapter, allowing studio and production teams to integrate the Ray 360c and 660c into industry-standard lighting console workflows.
