DIY iPhone Rig For Filmmakers

Filmmaking with an iPhone is growing as it’s a powerful mobile device that improves with every release. With options like ProRes and external drives to record to, you need to get a rig or system in place to make the iPhone a more user-friendly video camera.

Since the iPhone 15 Pro Max and now the iPhone 16, many companies have released rigs and accessories to build with it. They can be expensive and might not solve your needs.

Sherif Mokbel decided to build a rig with many different branded products to create what he feels is a more usable rig for iPhone Filmmaking. The key goals are compact, affordable, and modular. Did he nail it?
