Rycote has announced new HC-35 Shotgun & BD-10 Bidirectional Condenser Mics. The HC-35 now joins the shorter HC-22 and HC-15 shotgun microphones in the series.
Rycote HC-35
The Rycote HC-35 is a hyper-cardiod, long shotgun microphone, designed for specific applications such as sport broadcast and location recording.
The HC-35 is claimed to produce a highly directional polar pattern utilizing a longer interference tube than its siblings, the HC-15 and HC-22, to provide better off-axis rejection.
The HC-35 weighs 119 g / 4.19 oz.
The HC-35 maintains Rycote’s signature low self-noise. It was designed to blend seamlessly into the existing family with the same tonal quality expected from the entire Rycote microphone range.

Rycote BD-10
The Rycote BD-10 is a Bidirectional (Figure of 8) condenser Microphone designed mainly for M/S stereo and ambient recording as well as dual dialogue. Perfect for use with the SC-08, CA-08 or HC-15 for a complete Rycote M/S Stereo or DM/S stereo solutions. It is based around Rycote’s signature low self-noise capsule.
It can be used in MS or DMS (Double MS) for doc-style or corporate content in combination with a directional mic. Recite states that it is ideal to pick dialogue and ambience with mono sources and avoiding setup change on top of some control over the stereo image. It can be also used for stereo sound design or field recording.
