AstrHori has announced its new 18mm F/8 APS-C Probe Lens. This was designed to be an affordable entry-level probe lens.
This isn’t their first probe lens. Back in 2022, AstrHori announced its 28mm f/13 macro probe lens, which was a direct competitor to the Laowa 24mm f/14 Probe Lens. It offered similar specifications to the Laowa lens, but cost around half the price.
The AstrHori 18mm f/8 APS-C periscope probe macro lens will be available in Sony E, Fuji X, Canon RF and EF, Nikon Z, L-mount, and Micro Four Thirds mounts. Unlike the Laowa, it is not available in PL mount.

The front of the lens comes equipped with an LED light and it is waterproof.
The lens features a 2x magnification which allows you to capture extreme macrio shots. The 70º angle of view provides a wider perspective, letting you capture more of your subject and its surroundings.
The optical design of the lens consists of 23 elements in 17 groups and it has a close focus ability of 47cm.
