Power a Zacuto Gratical Eye or Kameleon with a new Battery Plate option

The Gratical Eye and Kameleon EVF don’t have a battery powering option until now. Zacuto has designed two models that attach easily with a D-ring on the screw. No tool is needed.

Gratical Eye Battery Plate

The Gratical Eye Battery Plate uses an LP-E6 battery for powering the Gratical Eye EVF. The battery plate is 3D printed and lightweight. It’s designed to fit the Gratical Eye’s round shape and keep it as compact as possible on the side of the EVF. The Eye has two rosette mounts leaving one open for mounting to your camera rig.

A 2 pin Lemo provides power from the battery plate into the Gratical’s 2 pin power input, and a power switch allows you to switch power on/off.

Zacuto states the total run time with a fully charged battery is approximately 2.5 hours.

Includes: 1 LP-E6 Battery, 1 charger & Battery Mount with 2 pin lemo cable. Retails for $185.00 US

Kameleon Battery Plate

The Kameleon Battery Plate also uses an LP-E6 battery and is custom formed to fit nice and snug. Just like the Graticle Eye they both have two rosette mounts leaving one open for mounting to your camera rig.

A 4 pin Lemo that provides power from the battery plate into the Kameleon’s 4 pin power input, and a power switch allow you to switch power on/off. Zacuto states the total run time with a fully charged battery is approximately 2.5 hours.

Retails for $185.00 US

Includes:

  • 1x LP-E6 Battery
  • 1x charger & Battery Mount with 4 pin lemo cable

For cameras that don’t have an EVF, this makes the small Gratical Eye or Kameleon worth a second look. Powering them without having an external power option makes it difficult to use, but with a formfitting plate and a lightweight LPE6 that solves the issue. I can see the C70 and FX3 being top candidates.
