Bright Tangerine has released a new line of accessories for the RED KOMODO. Just like the other LeftField Systems, the KOMODO kit has been designed around speed, so users can instantly switch between tripod to gimbal and handheld modes.
The LeftField System consists of various different kits, but all of them share a few main modules.
The LeftField KOMODO System is machined from single aluminum-alloy billets to create extremely rigid and lightweight components.
Different Versions
Bright Tangerine makes four different LeftField kits for the KOMODO:
Base
The Base Kit is made up of the LeftField baseplate core, a lower ARRI-style dovetail plate, a Standard riser, left and right side plates, and a top rail.
The LeftField baseplate features the Bright Tangerine Open-UP quick release system and 15mm LWS rod ports for an optional rod system. The lower dovetail plate features a standard ARRI-style dovetail form and allows you to mount onto a variety of rigs and systems. The included Standard riser allows you to mount the camera onto a variety of camera mounting systems and ensures your camera is at the proper 15mm LWS height. The top rail and side plates feature integrated NATO rails and multiple accessory mounting threads to add optional side handles, top handles, monitor mounts, or extension arms.
Essentials
The Essentials Kit is made up of left and right side plates, a top rail, a NATO top handle, and a 15mm LWS top bar rod bracket.
The top rail and side plates feature integrated NATO rails and multiple 1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16 accessory mounting threads to add optional side handles, top handles, monitor mounts, or extension arms. The top handle also features multiple 1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16 threads as well as a shoe mount, and it can slide back and forth to adjust for balance. The 15mm LWS bracket mounts upright or inverted onto the top handle, allowing you to utilize optional 15mm rods to mount additional accessories such as a follow focus motor, EVF, or wireless transmitter.
Advanced
The Advanced kit is made up of left and right side plates, a top rail, a NATO top handle, a LeftField 15mm LWS baseplate, a DJI/Zhiyun riser, a DJI quick release dovetail plate, and a lower dovetail plate.
The top rail and side plates feature integrated NATO rails and multiple 1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16 accessory mounting threads to add optional side handles, top handles, monitor mounts, or extension arms. The top handle also features multiple 1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16 threads as well as a shoe mount, and it can slide back and forth to adjust for balance.
The baseplate features 15mm LWS rod ports and allows the included DJI/Zhiyun riser to install quick release-style to keep your KOMODO at the proper 15mm rod height when mounted on a DJI or Zhiyun gimbal. The DJI dovetail secures the camera onto the riser, and the lower dovetail provides mounting on a variety of tripods, gimbals, and rigs.
Expert
The Expert kit is made up of left and right side plates, a top rail, a NATO top handle, a top bar bracket with 15mm LWS rod clamp, a LeftField 15mm LWS baseplate, a DJI/Zhiyun riser, a DJI quick release dovetail plate, and a lower dovetail plate.
The top rail and side plates feature integrated NATO rails and multiple 1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16 accessory mounting threads to add optional side handles, top handles, monitor mounts, or extension arms. The top handle also features multiple 1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16 threads as well as a shoe mount, and it can slide back and forth to adjust for balance. Side & Top Plates
You can add accessories to the right and left sides of your RED KOMODO. The durable aluminum plates weigh only 1.2 oz each and mount on the right and left sides of the camera.
There are three 3/8″-16 and two 1/4″-20 accessory mounting threads on each plate, and they are lined with stainless steel for extra durability. The plates also feature integrated NATO rails with safety stops on the ends. The plate kit is compatible with the separately available NATO Top Rail and Lens Adapter Supports for RED KOMODO.
OpenUP Quick Release Baseplate & DJI Dovetail
The Left Field 15mm Studio Quick Release Bridgeplate ($593.01) features a three-stage, Open•UP locking lever. This quick release system enables you to detach the bridgeplate vertically, saving the time and effort otherwise spent sliding your camera rig off the back of a dovetail. The vertical release feature is especially handy for heavier cameras or when switching one camera between multiple supports like a handheld rig, dolly, tripod, or gimbal.
The Quick Release bridgeplate includes an inner plate that can be rotated to accommodate the different heights of both ARRI and RED cameras. This riser adapter can be swapped for separately available plates compatible with additional cameras. Bridgeplate features include 3/8″-16 camera screws, a right-side ARRI-standard rosette, and 3/8″-16 accessory threads.
The DJI Dovetail ($107 USD) adds support for your RED KOMODO cinema camera when it is mounted onto your DJI RS 2, DJI RSC 2, or Zhiyun handheld gimbal with this DJI Dovetail from Bright Tangerine. The lightweight hard-anodized aluminum plate attaches to the bottom of a camera or camera cage with the included 3/8″-16 screw. It provides additional support and anti-twist prevention for the camera with rubber padding and support “wings” on the sides.
The 4.5″ long dovetail plate mounts onto the gimbal’s original camera plate receiver and can slide back and forth. Laser-engraved markings on the sides allow you to keep track of the plate position. Three M4 screws on the front of the plate allow you to mount the optional DJI Focus Motor Mount kit. It is also compatible with the optional Bright Tangerine LeftField Universal baseplate if you want to mount the camera on a tripod, and the plate provides mounting at the proper height for 15mm LWS rods.
NATO Top Handle & Top Bar Bracket
The 15mm NATO Top Handle/Top Plate Kit ($447 USD) s a lightweight aluminum kit is made up of a NATO top handle, a 15mm LWS top bar bracket, and a NATO top rail.
The top handle mounts onto a camera, cage, or rig using its integrated NATO clamp and features multiple 1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16 anti-twist mounts, pass-through strap slots, a handle-sliding mechanism, and a shoe mount on top. The top bar bracket features standard 15mm LWS rod ports to mount an optional rod system. The NATO top rail allows you to mount the NATO top handle, and it features front threads to add an optional lens support adapter

NATO Cheeseplate
You can use the Cheese Plate with NATO Clamp ($145.52 USD) to mount a variety of accessories onto the RED KOMODO. The cheese plate features multiple 1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16 accessory threads to mount accessories such as wireless gear, lens focus gear, or a monitor mount.
The lightweight plate weighs only 2.35 oz and mounts onto any standard NATO rail accessory using its integrated NATO clamp. It also features a stainless steel ARRI-style rosette to mount additional accessories such as a handgrip or extension arm. There are slots that pass through the plate to facilitate cable management.
Run/Stop Top Rail
You can pass run/stop control through and mount a NATO clamp accessory onto your RED KOMODO using this Run/Stop Top Plate ($145.53 USD). It mounts onto the RED KOMODO’s pogo pin interface, and it provides 1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16 accessory threads as well as an integrated NATO rail.
The plate provides pass-through run/stop control with its 3-pin Fischer connector and its pogo-pin interface to the camera, so you don’t have to run additional wires around your rig when using a run/stop handle or FIZ controller. It also features pass-through quick-detach (QD) slots for camera straps. The plate is compatible with standard NATO clamp accessories as well as the Bright Tangerine LeftField system, the NATO Top Handle, and the 15mm Top Bar Bracket.
