Salty Surf Housing for RED KOMODO

DSC01728

Australian company Salty Surf Housing has unveiled their new surf housing for the RED KOMODO.

The housing is CNC machined from a single piece of billet aluminum, anodized and then painted. If you have ever seen any other Salty housing, you will know that you can customize the colors to your liking.

It has a depth rating of 20m/66ft underwater and weighs approximately 3kg, or 3.5kg with the dual handles and a port.

The RED KOMODO housing is designed to work with:

  • RED KOMODO Camera
  • 2x Canon BP-975 Batteries (or smaller)
  • Atomos Shinobi with NP-F770 Battery (with on/off control)
  • You can fit similar size monitors to the Shinobi inside the housing, however you will sacrifice the monitor on/off control capabilities.

Controls

The housing has full physical control of the camera, including

  • ON/OFF Switch
  • MENU
  • FORWARD
  • BACK
  • SELECT
  • PLAY
  • RECORD
  • Shinobi ON/OFF Switch
  • 2x M16 bulkhead thread

The housing comes with 2x Vans ODI Side Handles and is compatible with the S-System Port System.

Ports

The KOMODO housing comes with Salty’s ‘STANDARD’ port system, which is compatible with lenses up to 105mm diameter.

The KOMODO housing does not allow fitment of larger CINE lenses due to the compact size of the housing.

SALTY DSMC2 housing owners note: all your current ports for EF lenses will work with the KOMODO when coupled with an RF to EF adapter.

The front element in the Salty ports is replaceable in less than 30 seconds by simply unscrewing the locking ring and dropping in a replacement acrylic screen, making it more affordable to replace scratched ports.

Pricing & Availability

Base pricing for the RED KOMODO housing starts at $4,950 AUD and is expected to start shipping from September 2020.

You will need to add at least one port to suit your lens.
