Tentacle Sync introduces Track E 32-bit floating point audio recorder

Just a few days before IBC the engineers at Tentacle Sync finished a working prototype of their new Track E 32-bit floating-point audio recorder.

32 bits, tiny box

The Track E uses powerful 32-bit floating point technology to maximise the dynamic range in recordings. The Track E is nearly as small as the Sync E, so it can easily fit in your pocket. This allows mobile operation for example as a recorder for a clip-on microphone eliminating the need for a radio-link.

Bluetooth sync

It offers synchronization over Bluetooth based on Tentacle Sync technology. After an initial syncing process the Track E devices run independently with less than one frame of drift in 24 hours. This means that the Track E will work in environments where regular wireless transmitters might not.

Track E1

The Track E is controllable through an app for iOS or Android, and it integrates seamlessly with other Sync E and Track E devices. But the Track E does not necessarily need a Sync E device to operate, it can easily function on its own. As soon as the device is turned on, it will be recognized by a Tentacle Sync setup app and can be configured wirelessly.

Tentacular tech

The portable recorder uses 32-bit floating point technology when recording the audio for a significantly enhanced dynamic range. This means that the gain of the recorded audio doesn’t matter. Audio that was recorded too quiet, can be raised in volume without raising the noise floor. 32-bit floating point also means that no digital clipping will occur. 32-bit float is very powerful.

The recorder has a 3.5mm locking mini-jack connector and uses a micro SD card for recording the audio. The Track E features adjustable plugin power for supporting a wide range of microphones.

A free license for Tentacle Sync Studio is included with every Track E purchase and in addition to the regular Track E, there is going to be a version bundled with a cost-effective lavalier microphone.

The Track E will be available in Q1 2020 and will retail for €249.
