Canon has expanded its RF lens range with the launch of the full frame RF 24-240mm F4-6.3 IS USM.
This all-in-one compact travel lens offers a 24-240mm 10x zoom range that gives users the ability to capture anything from wide-angle shots to telephoto close-ups.
- Product Highlights
- RF-Mount Lens/Full-Frame Format
- Nano USM AF System
- Optical Image Stabilizer and Dynamic IS
- Customizable Control Ring
Following the development announcement of six RF lenses in February and the recently launched RF 85mm F1.2L USM, the RF 24-240mm F4-6.3 IS USM is the second lens to be introduced by Canon in 2019.
The lens tips the scales at just 750g, which is impressive for a full frame zoom lens with this type of range. The 24-240mm lens features a diamond knurled focus/control ring and large, lockable zoom ring with 100° rotation. The large diameter and short back focus of the RF mount has allowed Canon to design the lens with large rear elements, to maximize the image quality.
There is also a Configurable Control Ring that can be used to adjust a variety of exposure settings, including aperture, ISO, and exposure compensation.
Dynamic IS & Auto Focus
The RF 24-240mm F4-6.3 IS USM is the first full-frame lens with Dynamic IS, which is claimed to offer up to 5 stops of image stabilization.
The lens has Nano USM autofocus, which combines the benefits of STM and ring USM, with Dual Pixel CMOS AF. Canon claims that the lens is fast, quiet, and smooth.
Price & availability
The Canon RF 24-240mm F4-6.3 IS USM will retail for $899 USD. It will be available to purchase in September.
