Venus Optics releases 9mm F/2.8 Zero-D in Micro Four-Thirds

laowa 9mm f/2.8 zero-d

Venus Optics has now made the 9mm f/2.8 Zero-D lens in micro four-thirds mount. Previously it was only available in Fuji X, Sony E, EOS M & DJI DL mounts. With a 9mm focal length, it delivers a wide 100-degree field of view, making it a nice option for the BMPCC 4K or other M4/3 mount cameras which usually have a large crop factor.

The Laowa 9mm f/2.8 is similar to the company’s Laowa 7.5mm f/2 MFT lens. It is very compact and only weighs 210g (0.46 lbs). The lens comprises of 15 elements in 10 groups with two aspherical elements and three extra-low dispersion elements to minimise chromatic aberrations and deliver a sharp image. For ND and other filters, the lens uses a 49mm filter thread.

Zero-D

The lens carries the Zero-D badge which is found on other Laowa lenses, with a close-to-zero level of distortion.

The Laowa 9mm f/2.8 Zero-D retails for USD $499 which is the same price of the lens in the other mounts. We’ll be sure to get a closer look at the lens this coming week at NAB.
