Libec has announced a 150mm ball head and new tripod systems. These have been designed for heavy camera payload configurations.
The Libec QD series is the companies new flagship models, and are the first 150mm system in the history of the brand. According to Libec, QD stands for “Quality Defined“. The QD Series brings a new balance between price, payload, and performance
The QD series consists of the QH1, QH3, QD-10, QD-10M, QD-30, and QD-30M.
The 150mm ball heads and tripod systems have payload capacities varying from 40kg (88lb) to 69kg (152lb).
Snap On Snap Off Plate
The 150mm heads use a snap on snap off plate system so you can quickly remove or place your camera on the tripod.
Smooth Counterbalance System
The tripod heads use a smooth counterbalance system which Libec claims
Counterbalance Meter
The counterbalance power level can be viewed by looking at the Counterbalance Meter. This allows users to keep an eye on their preferred counterbalance settings.
Center Tilt Lock with High Safety
For the camera system’s safety, the head can be physically locked into a center tilt position. Even at a distance, the
Flat Base and 150mm Ball Base Adapter
The BL-150 ball base adapter that is included in the kits converts the flat base head into a 150mm ball head.
1/4″ and 3/8″ Screw Holes for Accessory Attachments
Each side of the tripod has three screw holes for accessory attachments.
New Leg Lock Knob Design
The legs feature newly designed lock knobs that Libec claims are easy to turn, allowing users to adjust tripod legs quickly and firmly.

The 150mm ball heads and tripod systems are scheduled to start shipping in August this year. There is currently no indication of pricing. Hopefully, they will be a more budget-friendly option to established brands such as OConnor, Sachtler, Miller, and Cartoni.
