Sigma claims that the adaptor will deliver high precision AF photography in AF-S modes but unfortunately autofocus won’t work in AF-C modes. By installing the MC – 21, the SIGMA interchangeable lens can be used on the camera body of the L mount system, allowing up to 29 lenses to be used. Because it also supports the auto crop function, even if you attach a DC lens of APS – C size image circle to the camera body with 35 mm full-size sensor, shooting is still possible.

Unlike previous adaptors, the new MC-21 has a built-in LED light that will light up when a lens is compatible. It will also light up when a lens firmware update is available. The adaptor has data pre-loaded in to deliver optimal performance for each lens. Additionally, the adaptor supports correction functions like peripheral illumination, CA of magnification & distortion. The adaptor will also pass on EXIF data for lens type, focal length, aperture, and other information.

The adaptor features a tripod foot and the inside surface is covered with flocking to eliminate internal reflections.

SIGMA PL lenses can already be adapted using the Leica PL-L Adaptor.

As part of the L-Mount alliance, SIGMA has also announced that the ART line of prime lenses will be made available in L-Mount. These lenses will have high-speed AF in single shot modes as well as AF-C modes and offer in-camera image stabilization and lens corrections.

The lenses will use a native L-mount, using a brass bayonet for a high-precision fit & durability. The mounts will also feature rubber sealing for a dust & splash-proof construction.
