ProFound adds dimming module to waterproof PanFlex USB light – IBC 2018

We first showed you the smartphone-sized PanFlex at NAB 2018 now ProFound has added a handy module to it so you can dim the light.

With a little creativity, it can be mounted on top of a camera.

ProFound's ridiculously lightweight and flexible LED lights

The PanFlex is a punchy waterproof light that can be powered by a small portable battery or a smartphone. With it being so thin and flexible the light could come in handy. It’s also pretty punch for such a thin light.

The kit comes with a USB dimmer that goes from 3% to 100% and is completely flicker-free. The battery needs to be at least 5V. With a simple USB to lightning adapter, it plugs into the iPhone. For Android phones, the same applies. Just get the right USB adapter for the type it uses.

We took readings with a Sekonic C-700 SpectroMaster color meter and got some pretty good results.

The small portable PanFlex LED’s are also found in larger sizes however they won’t be powered by a small portable battery and require a ballast with a controller. They are not available in the US at this time. They retail for $75US for the kit.
