Hudson Spider Mozzie – IBC 2018

Hudson Spider first debuted the Redback in 2017 and at IBC the company was showing their latest product,  the Mozzie. The Mozzie is a smaller parabolic LED that has been based around the design of the Spider.

Like the Redback, the Mozzie emits a soft light that doesn’t require diffusion. It also weighs in at just 3 pounds (1.5 kg) which makes it easier to mount on cameras, boom poles or c-stand arms. In its parabolic Mode, the Mozzie is just 22″ (56 cm) wide. Due to the clever design, the light can fold down to a compact 7 ” x 5 ” (18 cm x 12 cm) which makes it easy to transport and travel with.

Even though the Bi-color Mozzie produces a very soft lighting source without the need for diffusion, you can use the Stealth accessory which converts the Mozzie, into a 4ft soft box.

The 200W Mozzieis claimed to emit a lot of light from its 1224 focused LED lights. Hudson Spider claims it has a CRI of 95+.

Hudson Spider has also announced the new Stealth mode, a 6ft (180cm) softbox for the Redback that weighs in at 13 pounds (6 kg). The Stealth Mode is just 25cm deep so it allows the Redback with the softbox to be used in places where some other lights can’t go.
