Bright Tangerine starts shipping their Revolvr follow focus units

It has certainly been a long wait for customers who pre-ordered Revolvr follow focus units. A prototype of the Revolvr was first shown way back in 2014 at IBC in Amsterdam, and since that time it has undergone numerous design improvements and refinements. Now the units are finally starting to ship out to customers who pre-ordered the Revolvr.

The Revolvr comes in two versions, a 18mm studio version that costs $2400US and the lightweight 13mm Revolvr Atom that is $1600US. There are also Dual-Sided 15mm and 19mm Studio Follow Focus Kits available.

The Revolvr follow focus has a soft end stop system that allows for a more tactile control of a set focus pull. Another nice touch is that the follow focus is designed to be used when wearing gloves. The system uses active-expanding coupling that allows you to connect a whip and speed crank so you get zero backlash. The speed crank is adjustable in length, and can pivot from 90 to 130 degrees. This means you can vary the speed, and access the crank when it’s difficult to reach.

There’s an optional Holster to mount a torch,so you can still see your marks in the dark. The lightweight bridge will snap directly onto LWS bars, or into 15mm and 19mm studio adaptors.

The Revolvr is made in Germany and looks to be a very good high end alternative to systems offered by companies such as Arri.
