Picture profiles and gamma curves eh? With so many options available on modern cameras it can be hard to know where to begin – and tricky to ensure you’re getting the best out of a camera whose settings might be buried deep in several levels of menus *cough* Sony *cough*.
X-Rite, manufacturers of the popular ColorChecker reference target, want to help. With education! They’ve organised a free webinar on Monday 20 June from 5:30pm – 6:30pm BST to help you get the most out of your camera’s gamma settings and picture profiles.

The session is titled ‘Achieving Perfect Exposure and Profiles in Video,’ will be led by independent filmmaker and colourist Ollie Kenchington (pictured above), and will cover:
• How to place the ColorChecker Video target in your scene (well it is being organised by X-Rite)
• How do different gamma profiles affect images?
• How do cameras handle colour information?
• How to balance video shot with different picture profiles
The aim is that by the end of the webinar, you’ll feel more confident about when to choose a profile and how to expose for it.
The session is free and you can register for the webinar here.
