CineGear – G.L. Optics 18-35 F1.8, new Sigma Art 50/1.4, and Summilux Leica R Sets from Nate Weber on Vimeo.

Sigma’s latest generation of ART still lenses have been getting attention lately thanks to their combination of moderate pricing and great optical performance. Chinese lens rehousing company GL Optics have been offering a cine rehoused 18-35mm f1.8 for some time. At CineGear they showed off brand new cine conversions of the 50mm and 35mm f1.4 ART lenses, along with a second version of the 18-35 with a great focus throw for cine use. The conversions are considerably more than the lens itself at $3950 each – placing them in direct competition with Zeiss CP, Canon CN-E and Schneider cine glass. The GL Optics lenses have interchangeable mount option for PL, Canon and Nikon mounts.

Also on show were the company’s Leica R lens cine conversions and the Canon 70-200mm f2.8 previously seen at NAB.
