Sony has announced that the BURANO firmware version 4.0 will include:
✅ Support for X-OCN ST
✅ Support for control in Multi Camera System (MCS) using the MSU and CNA-2
✅ Support for OpenTrackIO
X-OCN ST was introduced with the VENICE, so it is no huge surprise that the BURANO is getting it. There is also X-OCN XT, but that is reserved for the VENICE 2.
| X-OCN ST (Standard) | • Feature Film • Episodic Television • Commercials • Documentary | Best balance between picture quality and file transfer time/storage size, providing best efficiency in post-production Equivalent quality to Sony RAW, even with 30% smaller file size |

X-OCN (eXtended tonal range Original Camera Negative) is Sony’s answer to a compressed RAW format. The FX5 was the first camera below the BURANO to offer X-OCN recording. The BURANO can currently record in X-OCN LT.
