Atomos Shogun AV-19– 19″ Rackmount Monitor-Recorder-Switcher

Atomos has announced a new Shogun AV-19 19″ Rackmount Monitor-Recorder-Switcher. This is the first new Shogun product in a while, and it features 6K RAW recording, 10-bit HDR support, and NDI|HX3 via Gigabit Ethernet.

The Shogun AV-19 is a rack-mountable, 19-inch 4K HDR monitor-recorder-switcher designed for professional live production, broadcast, and video village environments. Combining multi-camera switching, ISO recording, and advanced monitoring in a rugged, rack-ready 7RU form factor, Shogun AV-19 delivers a complete “Monitor-Record-Switch” package for studio and outside broadcast workflows.

It can record and display up to four isolated camera feeds plus a fifth program output. It can record in a range of codecs, including ProRes, ProRes RAW, Avid DNx, and H.265 from SDI or HDMI sources, enabling immediate post-event turnaround with up to 10-bit 4:2:2 quality.

Media can be captured internally to CFexpress cards or externally via high-speed USB-C storage, offering versatile options for high-data-rate workflows.

The 19″ Shogun AV-19 features a 3840 x 2160 touchscreen with a claimed brightness of 1200 cd/m². Atomos claims that the large, color-accurate 4K HDR, DCI-P3 display provides crisp, real-time monitoring for directors, technical directors, camera operators, and production teams managing complex multi-camera setups.

As far as inputs and outputs are concerned, there are 2 x 12G-SDI + 2 x 3G-SDI in, 1 x 12G-SDI out, 1 x HDMI in/out, with XLR audio, and LANC support.

It was designed to be flight-cased or deployed in live event racks. The Shogun AV-19 also serves as a secure backup recorder for redundancy, an instant review station for directors and clients, and a confidence monitor. Built-in Atomos monitoring tools include EL Zone false color, focus peaking, waveform, Log-to-LUT viewing, frame guides, safe areas, anamorphic de-squeeze, HDR-to-Rec. 709 conversion, and quad-view monitoring.

The Shogun AV-19 receives LOG signals from the camera and offers a real-time LUT (Look-Up Table) preview to approximate what the final graded image will look like in Rec.709, all while recording in high-quality ProRes, DNxHR, or ProRes RAW. Custom LUTs (.cube files) can be loaded from the CFexpress card or SSD and used in conjunction with the Shogun’s built-in monitoring tools for precise exposure control.

Using intuitive, on-screen sliders, you can tweak white balance, aperture, shutter speed/angle, and ISO. A red edge display indicates when the camera is recording internally, whether triggered by the camera or from the Shogun AV-19. Control is available for most Canon, Fujifilm, Nikon, Panasonic, and Sony mirrorless cameras over USB-C, and all Z CAM E2 series models (cable required, purchased separately – ATOMCAB018).

Connectivity includes NDI HX3 send and receive, allowing broadcast-quality video, audio, and metadata to be sent over a single standard Ethernet cable for remote and mobile production workflows. Two full-size XLR inputs with 48V phantom power provide professional balanced audio recording, complete with dedicated meters, gain control, and frame-accurate audio delay.

The Atomos 19″ Shogun AV-19 Rackmount Monitor-Recorder-Switcher is now available to pre-order for $2,099 USD. It is expected to ship at the end of March 2026.
