DZOFILM has announced its new Arles 18mm T1.4. The new 18mm T1.4 sits between the 14mm and 21mm focal lengths, and it rounds out the Arles series, which now consists of 11 lenses (14, 18, 21, 25, 35, 40, 50, 75, 100, 135, 180mm).

The 18mm has an aperture range of T1.4 to T22, offering excellent low-light capture and shallow depth of field. The optical design consists of a 16-blade iris and multiple grouped elements that are claimed to provide a soft, natural bokeh and high-quality imagery. A multilayer nano coating is stated to enable precise flare control, minimal ghosting, and color accuracy. There are floating elements that minimize breathing during focus shifts, aspherical elements, and low-dispersion optical materials that reduce chromatic aberration.
Just like the rest of the Arles series, the 18mm covers a 46.5mm image circle, providing compatibility with large-format sensors, including full-frame and VistaVision cameras.
The lens comes with an interchangeable ARRI PL-mount that can be used with a separately available Canon EF mount, offering compatibility with a wide range of cine-style, mirrorless, and DSLR cameras. The Arles lenses are also compatible with KOOP magnetic rear filters and various optical adapters.
A 95mm outer diameter lets you incorporate different matte boxes or filters into your camera configuration. Each lens in the Arles series has a cine-style design with 0.8 MOD focus and aperture gears. Similar gearing and outer diameters across the range make it convenient when swapping lenses. The focus ring rotates 270°, and the iris ring 77°.
