Minifab has introduced a new top plate for the Canon EOS C80 and a top handle extension for the EOS C50, both with integrated Axis dual bubbles.
The Axis Dual Bubble is claimed to be more sensitive and easier to see than any in-camera digital level. The circular vial is easier to see than the one on the tripod head, whilst the cylinder vial is tilt agnostic, helping to keep horizons straight at all times, which is particularly useful for gimbal or handheld work.
C50 Top Handle Extension with integrated Axis
The C50 Top Handle Extension attaches to the camera’s XLR top handle with two 1/4”-20 screws, and it was designed to complement the camera handle’s contours.

It features two 1/4″-20 and one 3/8″-16 threads so you can mount accessories. It weighs around 60g.
C80 Top Plate with integrated Axis
The C80 Top Plate with integrated Axis was designed to suit Ideal for minimalist camera builds and run-and-gun shooting styles. These types of accessories are good if you don’t need or want a full cage set-up. The Top Plate weighs under 100g.
The top plate complements the camera’s profile whilst keeping all of the IO, the hotshoe, the buttons, and the strap loops completely unobscured.
The top plate features a reversible handle block. On one side, the original top handle can be mounted to a Canon striped rosette, or flipped over for a flat surface to attach NATO rails or third-party 1/4″-20 top handles.
On the left, the mini cheese board is ideal for mounting rod clamps for lens motors or XLR breakout boxes above the IO stack.
The skeletonised platform on the right consists of a cheese stick and a cold shoe, which could be used for mounting a radio mic receiver or timecode sync box. The platform shields the power switch from accidental knocks and retains plenty of clearance to operate all of the buttons on top of the camera.
The camera’s microphone shock mount can be relocated to the right edge of the top plate for a lower-profile top mic placement.
Alternatively, the M4 threads are Arri MAP compatible, plus an additional 1/4″-20 is available for further rigging possibilities.
The middle row of threads on the cheese board, plus the right side 1/4″-20, are all aligned with the sensor plane.
The top plate securely attaches to the top of the camera with a captive 1/4″-20 screw and a machined Canon striped rosette.
