ZineControl 1.8.0 has been released, and it adds support for more cameras, as well as cinematic zoom, focus jog, and a few other features.
If you are not familiar with ZineControl, it allows you to fully control select Nikon cameras remotely through an app on your smartphone ot tablet.
In an interesting development, ZineControl is now working directly with Nikon, and Nikon will be sending them cameras so they can make them fully compatible with the app. The first to join the list are the Nikon Z f and Z fc. ZineControl also now supports older Nikon DSLRs. If you have one sitting on a shelf, it’s time to give it a new life. It works over USB and over Wi-Fi on supported models.
What’s new in ZineControl 1.8.0?
- Support for the Nikon Z f and Z fc– ZineControl now fully supports the Nikon Z f and Z fc.
- Support for Nikon DSLRs and the Nikon 1 V3– Nikon DSLR and Nikon 1 V3 now work with ZineControl. Connect via USB, or Wi-Fi on supported models, and monitor everything from your phone.
- Cinematic zoom– Program PZ zoom moves, chain them together and have them start automatically when you hit record.
- Manual focus jog– Full focus from the screen without touching the lens.
- Zoom jog– An on-screen lever for power zoom (PZ) lenses, even while recording.
- Full control Switch–The app takes over the camera dials. This is essential on the Z f, Z fc, and other cameras where the physical dials usually take over via default.
- Turn the camera screen on and off from the app.– A feature that allows you to turn off the camera’s Live View while using the app to save battery life.
- Tilta Nucleus Nano BETA– Focus with the controller wheel.
- Magnify Toggle– Magnify the live image to check focus.
- Geotagging– Every photo saves where it was taken. It’s optional and can be enabled in Preferences.
- Delete from multimedia page– You can enable the delete option in Preferences.
- Tether and Broadcast Improvements– The protocol has been improved and now works on multiple devices.

So far, this release is only available for iOS, but it will be coming to Android next week.
