Viltrox Brings Its Air Series to L-Mount with Four Compact Autofocus Primes

Viltrox has launched four full-frame autofocus primes for L-Mount, bringing its compact, budget-focused Air series to Leica and Panasonic cameras for the first time. The four lenses, AF 14mm F4.0, AF 20mm F2.8, AF 40mm F2.5, and AF 50mm F2.0, were teased at IBC 2026 and are now shipping with confirmed pricing. Viltrox is framing the launch around “Carry Less, Capture More,” its pitch for a compact, lightweight prime lineup on L-Mount.

The lineup

The 14mm and 20mm sit at the wide end, built for landscapes, architecture, and vlogging where getting more of the scene in frame matters. The 14mm has the widest field of view in the set at 112.6 degrees and the closest minimum focus distance at 0.13m, giving it the highest magnification (0.23x) of the four lenses. The 20mm trades some of that width for a smaller, 159g body, Viltrox’s pitch being a wide-angle lens that still draws attention to a subject rather than just the scene.

The 40mm and 50mm sit at the standard end, aimed at everyday photography, street shooting, travel, and portraits. The 50mm carries the fastest aperture of the set at F2.0, meant for portraits and lower-light shooting, while the 40mm splits the difference between a wide and a standard view for general use.

All four lenses use STM-class construction across the board, with ED, HR (high-refractive), and aspherical elements in every optical formula, aimed at controlling chromatic aberration and keeping images sharp corner to corner. Full build details (mount material, weather sealing, included accessories) weren’t specified for the L-mount versions in the release; the existing Sony E and Nikon Z Air lenses use a metal mount and a USB-C port for firmware updates, and it’s reasonable to expect the same here, but that isn’t confirmed for these specific models yet.

Price and availability

All four lenses are available now. The AF 14mm F4.0 Air L and AF 50mm F2.0 Air L are $199 USD (EUR 229 / GBP 190). The AF 20mm F2.8 Air L is $176 USD (EUR 189 / GBP 165). The AF 40mm F2.5 Air L is $168 USD (EUR 189 / GBP 165).
