The Kinefinity VISTA has been shipping since mid-July, but only to early adopters. In a lot of places, including B&H, it is now available, but only in limited quantities. Kinefinity told me that they hope to have all current orders shipped by the end of October.
Since we last saw the camera, it has been improved, and there have already been quite a few firmware updates. The UI has been improved and updated, and there are quite a few new features.
Firmware Version 10.1, which was released this week, added higher frame rates when shooting in the S35 mode, so you can now do 4K 120p.
You can also attach UAC USB-C wireless RX units from companies such as Hollyland and DJI. As the VISTA has two USB-C ports, you can use one for this purpose.
Playback and other UI features have also been greatly improved.
At the show, they were also giving us a sneak peek of firmware version 10.2.
With Version 10.2, you could use wireless timecode via Bluetooth with the new DEITY TC-2 timecode devices.
There is also now the ability to burn in a LUT into recordings, which is handy for fast-turnaround material. There will also be gyroscope metadata available that you can use in post that you can use to stabilize footage.
Connectivity improvements allow the VISTA to connect with a DJI gimbal over USB-C to enable start/stop recording and use the M button to program other monitoring features. Accsoon is also developing firmware for their M7 monitors to allow camera control of the VISTA.
There will also be a Kinefinity phone app that will allow you to do SRT directly from the camera and use the phone to control the camera remotely.
The HDMI output is also getting upgraded to 4K instead of just 1080p.
