Chimera’s new Covered Wagon with Frame utilizes four corner receivers that take Chimera arc poles to create a clean half dome, wrapped in Chimera Cloth or the diffusion of your choice.

It was designed by gaffer Charlie Schneider, who came up with the idea during prep with Mike Ambrose and Dion Beebe for the Michael Jackson movie. The talk of conventional covered wagons came up early on, and with so many interior scenes, both daylight and tungsten balanced, he knew they would need more versatility than going tungsten only. With how fast they needed to light, Charlie knew batteries and wireless control were a must. The production had been really happy with DMG Dashes, so the first iteration was nicknamed the ‘Dash Wagon.’ But after a few years of improving and tweaking, he came to realize this Covered Wagon 2.0 could be a powerful vehicle for so many more lights.

You can pull the Kino mount off the back (not included), and the bottom sits dead flat. This means that it stays put on the stage, on an apple box, on the floor of the truck, etc. There is no need to wedge it against a sandbag so it doesn’t wander off.

The Kino plate drops onto a stand or clamp, and you can add a 5/8″ pin for grip heads, or pull the mount and set it flat on any surface.

Light Compatibility

The Chimera Covered Wagon with Frame works with most LED fixtures, including LED bulbs, LED brick lights, and LED tubes, such as the new ARRI Omnibar, the Rosco DMG Dash, etc.
