A very interesting House of the Dragon Season 3, Episode 1 BTS video has just been released, where the cast and crew share what it was like to create the show’s most ambitious sequences, including the Battle of the Gullet. The show utilized both practical and VFX.
The production team utilized a sophisticated “buck” on a six-axis motion base to simulate dragon flight. This allowed actors to physically interact with the rig, which helped create a more immersive performance compared to traditional CGI-only workflows.
The crew constructed massive outdoor sets including both dry and wet tanks. The wet tank held 3 million liters of water.
